Frank Klausz is coming to AAFW
When? October 22, 23 & 24
The seminar will feature:
Friday night - Wood Technology, slide presentation and discussion about any woodworking questions. 
Saturday - All day joinery - Hand-cut dovetails, mortise-and-tenon, sliding dovetail, etc.
Sunday - Wood finishing - How to apply various wood finishes; shellac, oil, french polishing, etc.
Times:  Friday night - 7:00 PM till 9:00 PM. Saturday - 8:00 AM till 6:00 PM. Sunday - 8:00 AM till 3:00 PM.
There will be a 1 hour lunch break on Sat and Sun.
Where? Homewood Suites in Scottsdale, NW corner of Mountain View and Scottsdale Rd.
Reservations are now being taken, we expect this event to fill-up quickly (attendance will be limited to 60), 
the general public will be invited, so sign-up now, "first come first served".
This is a great opportunity to meet a Master Craftsman and the cost will be an unheard of $40 for 
AAFW members and $70 for non-members for all three days. Lunch and refreshments will be provided 
on Saturday and Sunday for only an additional $10 per person.

Presidents Challenge

The presidents challenge was announced at the May meeting.  The June meetng will give details.  The skill set for this challenge will be mortise and tenon joinery.

The challenge will to build a small table incorporating this skill, therefore, dominoes, biscuits, pockets or loose tenons are not allowed.  Mortise and tenon possibilities are:

Four shoulder blind either glued or draw bore, four shoulder through tenons, four shoulder foxed, etc, you get the idea.  The entries will be judged at the December meeting and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three entries. 

You will have a mentor available for consultation, and are encouraged to use the forum for discussions.
